Throughout France and the UK from the 15th, right up to the early 20th century, shepherd huts were to be found on pastures, estates and heathland during lambing season. Although simply furnished - just a mattress and a stove - they were solidly built and a refuge from the elements. Now they're a much coveted addition to a garden, an orchard or a distant and quiet corner of a field or wood, as an office, spare room or guest accommodation.
